  2. Object (unchanged!)
  3. Predicate (unchanged!)

"[I-Maintheme] book(-Accusative particle) read."

English

"I read the book."

A subsentence comes BEFORE the main sentence! This grammar is reversed to Western languages!

Japanese 1:1

[わたくしは]本を読むといった
[WATAKUSHI WA] HON WO YO-MU TO [WATAKUSHI GA] ITTA
"[I] book read, [I] said."

"{looong sentence }, the minister said."

English

"I said, that I read the book."
