Japanese Adverbs

副詞 FUKU SHI

An adverb describes a condition. In Japanese, adverbs are derived from adjectives:

They end mostly on く -KU (from the adjective い -I):

  1. YO-KU: good ← YOI: good (YO-I [XYZ] = a good [XYZ]
Eine second class has no specific ending, and they do not change:
  1. MAZU: now, ...
  2. MATA: once again, additionally
  3. MADA: not yet
